Diabetes Type 1 Protection and Treatment Protocol

Note a low fat diet will re-enforce this sugar addiction. Fat will supply the steady glucose the lack of which can cause the sugar cravings.

Also see MS Protocol

"We found that immunologically, type I diabetes and multiple sclerosis are almost the same - in a test tube you can barely tell the two diseases apart."   Michael Dosch, MD   So also see MS Protocol

“Mycoplasma is the co-factor that alters the human immune system and opens the door for the autoimmune degenerative diseases such as AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, Bi-Polar Disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, Chronic Fatigue/ Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Diabetes Type One, Fibromyalgia, Huntington’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease.”    Doctor Harold Clark

"The primary applications of niacinamide are in recent-onset type 1 diabetes, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis."   Michael Murray N. D.

"The results of the existing research suggests that niacinamide can prevent type 1 arthritis if given soon enough after the onset of the disease by helping restore the beta cells. Some newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics have experienced complete resolution of their of their diabetic symptoms with niacinamide supplementation."   Michael Murray N. D.

"According to Dr Shyh-Ching Lo, senior researcher at The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and one of America’s top mycoplasma researchers, this disease agent causes many illnesses including AIDS, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn’s colitis, Type I diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Wegener’s disease and collagen-vascular diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and Alzheimer’s. I have all the official documents to prove that mycoplasma is the disease agent in chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia as well as in AIDS, multiple sclerosis and many other illnesses. Donald W. Scott MA

“A 2001 Finnish study found that children given 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily in their first year of life cut their risk of getting juvenile diabetes by 80 per cent over their next 31 years.”  Hyppopen et al Lancet 2001

“Why we should offer routine vitamin D supplementation in pregnancy and childhood to prevent multiple sclerosis.”  Chaundhuri Medical Hypotheses 2005

Epidemiological studies around the world show vaccines to be the cause of 79% of insulin type I diabetes in children under 10. The increased risk ranged from 9% with the diphtheria vaccine to 50% with the Hepatitis B vaccine. CDC data confirms these findings. The incidence of many other chronic immunological diseases, including asthma, allergies, and immune mediated cancers, has risen rapidly and may also be linked to immunisation.56   Bart Classen, MD, PhD, developer of vaccine technologies, British Medical Journal 1999

"These new studies, and more than 20 well-documented previous ones, have prompted one researcher to say the link between cow’s milk and juvenile diabetes is 'very solid'." Diabetes Care 1994;17(12)

“Some people with type I diabetes appear to be deficient in the amino acid taurine.” Franconi et al

“Mycoplasma can cause a respiratory flu-like illness that can progress to systemic chronic fatigue syndrome-like or fibromyalgia syndrome-like illness, sometimes advancing to multiple sclerosis-like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and arthritic-like symptoms.” Life Extension

“Thousands of soldiers with Gulf War Syndrome are being helped when their mycoplasma infections are identified and killed.” Nicolson et al 1998

"Researchers surveyed 128 youths aged between 18 months and 17.5 years with type 1 diabetes. They found that 61% of the youths had insufficient levels of vitamin D, and 15% were clinically deficient."  Journal of Pediatrics

“Current evidence suggests that the overall load of infectious agents, including respiratory viruses, encountered early in life is an important factor influencing maturation of the immune system from a type 2 bias at birth towards predominantly type 1 responses, thus avoiding atopic diseases. The ‘hygiene hypothesis’ proposes that the relatively sterile environment present in industrialized Western countries has contributed to the recent epidemic of asthma and atopy. Whether specific infections are of greater or lesser protective value is an important question if strategies are to be derived to mimic the beneficial effects of childhood infection whilst avoiding morbidity and potential mortality of the natural pathogens.“ Message and Johnson 2002

“Mice were protected against type 1 diabetes under normal living conditions. But when they were raised in a germ-free environment, and lacked beneficial gut bacteria, they developed severe diabetes. It was only when the mice were exposed to bacteria normally found in the human intestine that they became less likely to develop diabetes”. Nature 28 Sept 2008

"This article describes how a novel plant extract derived from the Argan tree gets to the root of thinning hair and hair loss by stimulating the activity of self-renewing dermal stem cells to alleviate a dry scalp and induce hair growth."   Support Healthy Hair And Scalp Regeneration

IMO Diabetes Type 1 is Often a Man Made problem,

"In New Zealand, the incidence of Type 1 diabetes in children rose by 61 % after an aggressive vaccine program against hepatitis B.. This same program has been started in the U.S.A. so we can now look forward to many cases of Type 1 diabetes in children. Similar rises in Type 1 diabetes have been seen in England, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark after immunization programs against Hepatitis B."   Why You Should Avoid Taking Vaccines

"Blindness is 25 times more common among diabetic patients compared to nondiabetics. It is proposed that by the year 2010 diabetes may exceed both heart disease and cancer as the leading cause of death through its many complications."   Life Extension

Diabetes type 1 is often associated with mycoplasma; IMO assume you may have a mycoplasma infection and treat for it. As always natural treatments cannot hurt.

A lot is being discovered about Type 1 diabetes. If I were pregnant (See Pregnancy Protection Protocol) I would research Type 1 Diabetes and take whatever nutritional and other steps possible to try and best avoid it for my child. Diabetes type 1 is thought by many to have a root in autoimmune problems.

An Approach for all of Diabetes

No matter what Type of Diabetes you have insulin is your enemy; you want less of it in your body. Actually this holds for all of us diabetic, prediabetic or non-diabetic. Everyone needs to minimize his insulin. The following strategy will cause you to produce way less insulin than the standard diet and doing nothing.

Get Down to Weight

“Weight loss in Type 2 diabetics induces a dramatic increase in insulin sensitivity. A weight loss of 20% produces an increase of more than double in insulin sensitivity.”   Note this is HUGE

Yes losing weight is very difficult for most of us BUT it will so improve your health it has to be worth it. This can DOUBLE or TRIPPLE your insulin sensitivity and means you have to produce WAY less insulin.

Eat More Good FAT:

Fat requires NO insulin to digest and process. Forget the propaganda about fat being bad for you; IT IS NOT; good fat is ENERGY just like a bowl of Sugar Pops (ugh). Learn to tell the difference between the good and bad fats; shoot IMO for 50% of you calories in GOOD FAT. Fat keeps hunger away and allows you to pass up that SUGAR donut and other sweet treats which cause your insulin to SURGE. Fat supplies slow constant energy that allows your body not to crave SUGAR.

Do NOT Eat Sugar or Simple Carbs

Yes this is hyperbole but you get the picture. Both sugar and simple carbs can be almost eliminated if you are diligent enough. Is it easy; NO.

Make Sure your Vitamin D Levels are at Least 80 ng/ml or Better

“A 2001 Finnish study found that children given 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily in their first year of life cut their risk of getting juvenile diabetes by 80 per cent over their next 31 years.”  Hyppopen et al Lancet 2001

"Researchers conducted genetic analysis and found that vitamin D interacts with genes for such diseases as rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, and multiple sclerosis as well as colorectal cancer. Deficiency in the vitamin was linked to development of the diseases.”   Genome Research

Vitamin D if KEY to the reading of your genome and MANY diseases. This includes all forms of diabetes.

Eat Cinnamon with all ALL Sugar and Simple Carbs

"The factor found in cinnamon that is responsible for the diabetes advantage is MHCP. Researchers found that MHCP stimulated glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis in a similar fashion as insulin."   Life Extension

"Researchers were studying the effects of common foods on blood sugar. They noticed that when the subjects ate apple pie… their blood sugar levels actually improved.  The researchers were stunned. They looked into it and found it was due to a common ingredient. You probably already have it in your kitchen. Turns out to be cinnamon!  Tests done by the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirm this ingredient’s ability to lower blood sugar. They found it increases your body’s glucose metabolism by almost 20 times.”   Doctor Al Sears MD

Cinnamon can substitute for insulin; thus you produce less insulin. Carry around a small 1 or 2 ounce sprinkler container of cinnamon and sprinkle a little in any sugar or simple carbs you may be eating on the road. You do not need a lot just a little.

Take Chromium Supplements

"While we don't know the exact chromium content of many of the World's Healthiest Foods, it appears that our strategy of eating—based around minimally processed and plant-rich meals with liberal use of spices—would be expected to ensure a consistent supply of this mineral."    WHF Chromium

“Chromium assists in overcoming insulin resistance.” McCarthy 2000

“Chromium is essential in glucose metabolism.” Whiting 1989

Diabetes of any type BURNS Chromium. Eating sugar BURNS Chromium. Even though if you eat right you will PROBABLY get sufficient chromium, I supplement  a gram or two from time to time just to make sure. IMO if you eat processed or fast food or are at all concerned about diabetes you should supplement a gram or two a day for at least a few months. Ten or twenty grams a day cannot hurt you.

Eat All Foods and Supplements Shown to Improve Insulin Function

"Gymnema Sylvestre  may even help regenerate the pancreatic beta cells which produce insulin. This could be a breakthrough of immense proportions for Type 1 diabetics who are having trouble producing insulin."

"Maintaining a healthy liver (capable of fully participating in blood glucose control) is vital. ... Silymarin is a liver protector and hypoglycemic agent."   Life Extension

There are many foods and supplements shown to improve your insulin function. IMO consume as many as you are able

Mycoplasma and Type 1 Diabetes

“Mycoplasma is the co-factor that alters the human immune system and opens the door for the autoimmune degenerative diseases such as AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, Bi-Polar Disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, Chronic Fatigue/ Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Diabetes Type One, Fibromyalgia, Huntington’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease.”    Doctor Harold Clark

Donald W. Scott MA

If you have Type 1 Diabetes you may have a mycoplasma infection. IMO high levels of vitamin D may cure a mycoplasma infection. As a type 1 treatment getting your vitamin D levels up to 80 ng/ml just may help and cannot hurt so IMO try it.

Vaccination and Type 1 Diabetes

Epidemiological studies around the world show vaccines to be the cause of 79% of insulin type I diabetes in children under 10. The increased risk ranged from 9% with the diphtheria vaccine to 50% with the Hepatitis B vaccine. CDC data confirms these findings. The incidence of many other chronic immunological diseases, including asthma, allergies, and immune mediated cancers, has risen rapidly and may also be linked to immunisation.56   Bart Classen, MD, PhD, developer of vaccine technologies, British Medical Journal 1999

Folks diabetes Type 1 IS one of the many diseases of "vaccination".

Dairy Products are Highly Associated with Diabetes Type 1

"These new studies, and more than 20 well-documented previous ones, have prompted one researcher to say the link between cow’s milk and juvenile diabetes is 'very solid'." Diabetes Care 1994;17(12)

"Early exposure of infants to cows milk protein may be an important factor in the initiation of the beta cell destruction process in some individuals."   Pediatrics 1994

"We found that immunologically, type I diabetes and multiple sclerosis are almost the same - in a test tube you can barely tell the two diseases apart. We found that the autoimmunity was not specific to the organ system affected by the disease. Previously it was thought that in MS autoimmunity would develop in the central nervous system, and in diabetes it would only be found in the pancreas. We found that both tissues are targeted in each disease. Exposure to cow milk protein is a risk factor in the development of both diseases for people who are genetically susceptible." Michael Dosch, MD, Note milk often contains mycoplasma

"Cow's milk formula feeding induces primary immunization to insulin in infants at genetic risk for type 1 diabetes."   Cow's Milk and Diabetes Type 1

Mothers please do not give your infants and young children dairy products. Were I a mother with a nursing infant I would go very light on the dairy myself. One of the problems with dairy is that it can contain mycoplasma.

The shocking truth about dairy

Please visit the Sugar and Disease Protocol to learn how to prevent SUGAR Diabetes and other diseases to include hyperinsulinemia and other insulin problems  by stopping or limiting SUGAR.

Vitamin B3 as Niacinamide and Type 1 Diabetes

"The primary applications of niacinamide are in recent-onset type 1 diabetes, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis."   Michael Murray N. D.

"The results of the existing research suggests that niacinamide can prevent type 1 diabetes if given soon enough after the onset of the disease by helping restore the beta cells. Some newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics have experienced complete resolution of their of their diabetic symptoms with niacinamide supplementation."   Michael Murray N. D.

There are several forms of Vitamin B3, also called niacin. These forms include nicotinic acid and nicotinamide also called niacinamide. Part of the body's B3 supply comes from conversion of the amino acid tryptophan (See L-Tryptophan Protocol).

In its niacinamide form, vitamin B3 is useful in osteoarthritis (See Osteoarthritis Protection Protocol) and early-onset type I diabetes.

A Possible Solution For Type 1 Diabetes?

"Gymnema Sylvestre  may even help regenerate the pancreatic beta cells which produce insulin. This could be a breakthrough of immense proportions for Type 1 diabetics who are having trouble producing insulin."

"Maintaining a healthy liver (capable of fully participating in blood glucose control) is vital. ... Silymarin is a liver protector and hypoglycemic agent."   Life Extension

The common medical theory is that once your beta cells are "destroyed" you can never get them back These types of theories have been shown to be incorrect in the past. IMO do everything indicated in this and the Stem Cells protocol especially getting your vitamin D levels up to 85 ng/ml and taking Gymnema Sylvestre .

Biotin and Type 1 Diabetes

"Biotin works synergistically with insulin to increase the activity of glucokinase an enzyme responsible for the first step in glucose utilization."   Murray 1996

"Biotin is a member of the B vitamin family even though it can be produced by bacteria in the gut."   Michael Murray N. D.

"In one study. 8 mg of biotin twice daily resulted in significant lowering of fasting blood sugar levels and improvements in blood glucose control in type 1 diabetics."   Michael Murray N. D.

Clearly biotin  plays a huge part in type 1 diabetes. If you have sufficient biotin you need LESS insulin. This is always a good thing, especially if you are having trouble producing insulin as is the case in type 1 diabetes.

First get your gut bacteria to produce all the biotin they are able. In addition supplement with biotin 8 mg twice daily. This at minimum this will help with your glucose problem. For other substances and methods with the ability to lower your insulin requirements see the Glucose Spike Control Protocol.

Vitamin D and Diabetes Type 1

The simple primal act of getting LOTS of the high noon sun on your bare “unprotected” skin in large amounts just may be the most important single thing you can do for your health. If the sun casts a shadow longer than you are tall you cannot make adequate vitamin D from the sun. You MUST take vitamin D3 at the daily rate of about 1000 IU/20 pounds of body weight.

"It is well known that the risk of MS increases rapidly with increasing latitude. This finding has been demonstrated in Australia, Europe, and the United States. The best explanation for this latitudinal variation is strengthening of the immune system, especially in winter, which can then help prevent viral infections from giving rise to MS. In addition to reducing the risk of MS, vitamin D is also beneficial for treating the symptoms of MS. Two papers reported higher numbers of MS lesions in winter than in summer.”  William B. Grant, PhD, and Michael F. Holick, PhD, MD   Note immunologically, type I diabetes and multiple sclerosis are almost the same

“Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a very serious illness, and I used to dread when people came to my office with MS because there really wasn't much I could do for them at the time. Things have changed since then, however. In researching a vast array of natural health therapies, I came to realize there are a number of different strategies available—the most important of which is optimizing your vitamin D levels. Personally, I believe it's medical malpractice to treat someone with an autoimmune disease and not address and monitor their vitamin D levels.”    Doctor Joseph Mercola MD   Note immunologically, type I diabetes and multiple sclerosis are almost the same

Good vitamin D levels while pregnant and in infancy protect against Type 1 diabetes. Pregnant women using cod liver oil have infants with a lower risk for juvenile type 1 diabetes. This effect was found only in mothers taking cod liver oil, not in mothers taking multivitamin supplements.  This implies pregnant women should get plenty of sunshine (See Sunshine protocol) for themselves and their pre-born child and take their newly born child out in the sun frequently.

Assessment of evidence for a protective role of vitamin D in multiple sclerosis

Vitamin D, vitamin D, vitamin D

The simple primal act of getting LOTS of the high noon sun on your bare “unprotected” skin in large amounts just may be the most important single thing you can do for your health. If the sun casts a shadow longer than you are tall you cannot make adequate vitamin D from the sun. You MUST take vitamin D3 at the daily rate of about 1000 IU/20 pounds of body weight.

"Improvement in glucose tolerance and beta-cell function in a patient with vitamin D deficiency during treatment with vitamin D."   Vitamin D and Diabetes Type 1

IMO it is beyond clear that Good vitamin D levels are absolutely critical to prevent this scourge. Please give your fetuses, newborns and infants enough vitamin D to replete them to at least 80 ng/ml, more is better. At this level you will be reducing your child's risk of diabetes type 1 by over 95% IMO. If they are not getting good sun on "unprotected skin" please get tested for vitamin D.

Mothers you can assure these levels in your beloved children by ordering them out into the sun and fun the whole summer long until they are brown as a berry. No suntan gunk please. Black and dark skinned mothers may also need to supplement with vitamin D3 year round and white mothers in the late fall, winter and early spring. Just throw out your tv.

Eat More Good Fat

“Why trade one insulin-raising nutrient for another? It is far safer and just as nutritious to decrease ALL carbohydrates and maintain protein at a reasonable level while increasing your intake of good unsaturated fats.”    Reaven et al 2000, Note good saturated fats work as well or better in moderation   Note the more good you fat you eat the less insulin you need to produce

Folks this is very simple; eating more good fat decreases the amount of insulin you need to produce.

A Simple Solution to some of Type 1 Diabetes?

"Doctor Newport learned that the ingredient in the Alzheimer’s drug trial which was showing so much promise was simply MCT oil derived from coconut oil or palm kernel oil, and that a dose of 20 grams (about 20 ml or 4 teaspoons) was used to produce these results. When MCT oil is metabolized, the ketones which the body creates may, according to the latest research, not only protect against the incidence of Alzheimer’s, but may actually reverse it. Moreover, this is also a potential treatment for Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease), drug-resistant epilepsy, brittle type I diabetes, and type II (insulin-resistant) diabetes."   Coconut Oil and Alzheimer’s Disease

It certainly cannot hurt to eat a little of the very salubrious cocoanut oil every day. This story illustrates what is so terribly wrong with medicine in this country. How is it that a single motivated doctor, or ANYONE, can accomplish more for their loved ones than ALL of "Organized Medicine"? Please spend a little time understanding the issues here. It will pay you big dividends in your quest for health.

Exercise and Type 1 Diabetes

“Whatever the exercise the participants can take delight in knowing they are burning calories and reducing body fat, triglycerides, cholesterol, blood glucose and blood pressure, while increasing insulin sensitivity, improving mental outlook and building muscle and strength.” Life Extension

“A sedentary lifestyle encourages weight gain and worsens syndrome x. Physical fitness increases cellular glucose responsiveness and decreases the amount of insulin excreted after a carbohydrate load.” Challem et al, Note syndrome x is a cluster of unhealthy characteristics of excess sugar consumption

“A study showed the protective effect of exercise is strongest on individuals most prone to develop diabetes; those persons who are obese, hypertensive, or born to diabetic parents.”    Helmrich 1991, Note if you fit you MUST exercise, no choice

"Skeletal muscles have a unique ability to take  up glucose without the need for insulin. Glucose transporters known as GLUT-4 regulate the process. Regular exercise induces a greater expression of GLUT-4 thus lowering blood sugar and improving insulin sensitivity."   Life Extension

Exercise has been often shown to decrease, by various mechanisms, the amount of insulin required to digest and process your food. For other substances and methods with the ability to lower your insulin requirements see the Glucose Spike Control Protocol.

Stem Cells and Type 1 Diabetes

"The legal, moral and ethically correct type of stem cells are bone marrow derived stem cells and umbilical cord stem cells that almost never receive any publicity because they are not controversial! The most important thing a person should understand is that a stem cell is a stem cell is a stem cell! All forms of stem cells are essentially very similar and differ only in fairly minor ways. Primitive undifferentiated (untrained) stem cells by and large can go to any injury and help to repair the damaged tissues. Yes some are more potent than others but in reality they all work as stem cells and support regeneration of damaged tissues."    Sources of Stem Cells

"This article describes how a novel plant extract derived from the Argan tree gets to the root of thinning hair and hair loss by stimulating the activity of self-renewing dermal stem cells to alleviate a dry scalp and induce hair growth."   Support Healthy Hair And Scalp Regeneration

IMO maximizing your stem cell production cannot hurt and almost certainly will help if not cure Type 1 Diabetes.

Avoid for Type 1 Diabetes

"These new studies, and more than 20 well-documented previous ones, have prompted one researcher to say the link between cow’s milk and juvenile diabetes is 'very solid'." Diabetes Care 1994;17(12)

"Walking should never be discredited as a viable form of exercise; as little as 30 minutes a of walking a day can diametrically improve the plight of prediabetic and diabetic patients."   Cafazzo 2001

"The control of periodontal infections is essential as a prophylactic against diabetes, as well as for better blood glucose control among confirmed diabetics."   Life Extension

“Why trade one insulin-raising nutrient for another? It is far safer and just as nutritious to decrease ALL carbohydrates and maintain protein at a reasonable level while increasing your intake of good unsaturated fats.” Reaven et al 2000, Note good saturated fats work as well or better in moderation   Note the more good you fat you eat the less insulin you need to produce, IMO good saturated fats are just as good as any other good fat.

  • Mycoplasma Excess any is excess

  • Vaccines may introduce mycoplasma IMO

  • Vitamin D Deficiency

  • Sunshine Deficiency

Protective and Possible Treatment for Type 1 Diabetes

"In its niacinamide form, vitamin B3 is useful in and early-onset type I diabetes."

“Some people with type I diabetes appear to be deficient in the amino acid taurine.” Franconi et al

"Niacin-bound chromium such as chromium polynciotinate is more bioavailable than chromium picolinate."

"Various studies suggest that stevia has a regulating affect on the pancreas and could actually assist in stabilizing blood sugar levels."   Life Extension

"We conclude that consumption of this herb by NOD mice, at least, has lead to no negative repercussions with respect to the hemopoietic and immune lineages, and secondly, the consistent, long-lasting immunostimulation only of NK cells, may lead to a possible new approach to the treatment of Type 1 diabetes."   Echinacea for Diabetes Type1

No one but YOU can cure YOUR Diabetes eating problems

For substances and methods with the ability to lower your insulin requirements see the Glucose Spike Control Protocol.

  • Gymnema Sylvestre   may even help regenerate the pancreatic beta cells which produce insulin. This could be a breakthrough of immense proportions for Type 1 diabetics who are having trouble producing insulin.

  • Chromium   Sugar destroys chromium

  • Cinnamon   Shown to keep Blood Sugar low even after eating sugar. Eat some with all sugar

  • Cocoanut Oil

  • Echineea

  • Red Pepper has shown promise in trials as a cure for Type 1 Diabetes it cant hurt to try it for protection.

  • Vitamin B3 as niacinamide      Shown to greatly help in Type 1 diabetes.

  • L-Taurine   “Some people with type I diabetes appear to be deficient in the amino acid taurine.” Franconi et al

  • L-Tryptophan   Part of the body's B3 supply comes from conversion of the amino acid tryptophan

  • Stevia   could actually assist in stabilizing blood sugar levels

  • Vitamin D3   Proven helpful for Type 1 Diabetes, Get up to 80 ng/ml IMO. Very helpful against mycoplasma.
